An ongoing study to find ‘true’ artificial intelligence.

These works are part of a project started in 2018, questioning the meaning of the term Ai. Without autonomy, how can there be Intelligence? If the machine can’t make decisions and is purely carrying out functions imagined by humans, what is the difference between artificial intelligence and a calculator? Or an abacus?

With humans reliance on and acceptance of artificial intelligence and machine learning ever growing, these studies; theoretical and practical, are important.

In 2019 we achieved the ‘world first truly Ai artwork’. We have continued to develop this process and these artworks each explore intelligence, autonomy and human’s relationship with technology.

If we want our machines

to think, we need to

teach them to see.

At some stage, therefore, we should have to expect the machines to take control.
